The Nagoya University Alumni Association, founded in 2002 and with 15 overseas chapters in Asia in addition to four in Japan, has added a sixteenth chapter in the United States. President Naoshi Sugiyama and new U.S. Chapter Chairman Kunihiko Iwasa officially opened the chapter at a ceremony in San Francisco on January 28 with members of NU Friends in the States, the existing network of Nagoya University alumni in the United States. The U.S. Chapter is the first outside of Asia, and its founding comes as Nagoya University also establishes an international campus at North Carolina State University, further strengthening its U.S. partnerships for the 21st century.
