Shinshu University, in Nagano Prefecture, has joined the C-FRONT association of central Japan national universities. It is the first member from Nagano, and in joining national universities in Aichi, Gifu, Shizuoka and Mie Prefectures it has increased the number of member universities to nine. As a result of Shinshu University's membership, a change of the organization's name to C2-FRONTS was approved at its second meeting, held on May 29th, 2024, in Nagoya. Other topics at the meeting included the symposium on carbon neutral development being organized in cooperation with the Central Japan Economic Federation, and proposals for taskforces and workshops presented by the member universities.
The next meeting, which will mark a year since the founding of C2-FRONTS, will be held this fall. Over the summer, the member universities will focus on building new connections and get started on their taskforces. They will present the results at a multi-day workshop aimed at the next generation of university management in the spring of 2025.
