Nagoya University held a ceremony at its Higashiyama Campus to thank Tokai Tokyo Financial Holdings, Inc. and the Tokai Tokyo Foundation for their significant financial contributions to academic and educational exchange between Japan and the United Kingdom at a ceremony on March 27, 2025.
The partnership between Nagoya University and Tokai Tokyo Financial Holdings, Inc. began in February 2015, marking the launch of the "Tokai Tokyo Financial Holdings Global Project." This project was founded on the shared belief that industry-university collaboration is essential for developing global talent that can drive internationalization in central Japan. Over the past decade, the constant and generous support has enabled Nagoya University to conduct 22 educational programs, including "International Affairs Lecture for Global Human Resources" and "Global Business Lectures." The partnership has also facilitated 10 short-term student exchange programs with St John's College at the University of Cambridge and sponsored training opportunities for 46 students at British institutions such as the University of Edinburgh.
The ceremony featured welcoming remarks from Naoshi Sugiyama, President of Nagoya University, and presentations from students whose study abroad was made possible through the project. Mikio Fujii, chairman and CEO of Tokai Tokyo Securities Co., Ltd. and trustee of the Tokai Tokyo Foundation, was given a certification of appreciation to commemorate the company's contribution to international exchange.
