Nagoya University's American Football Team Grampus Wins the 12th Chunichi Sports Distinguished Service Award

Nagoya University's American football team, Grampus, has won the Chunichi Sports Distinguished Service Award, which is presented to athletes or teams/coaches who have contributed to healthy youth development through encouraging and playing sports and have achieved outstanding results in the Chubu Region.

Last year, the Grampus won the championship for the Tokai Collegiate American Football League, marking the first time in 27 years that they have been declared the league's undisputed champions. Grampus also made their debut in the All-Japan intercollegiate championship, where they won easily over Seinan Gakuin University in the third round, and put up a good fight against Kwansei Gakuin University, one of the strongest teams in Japan, in the fourth round. These achievements through overcoming difficult situations were highly appreciated, resulting in the team's winning of the award.

The award ceremony was held at the headquarters of Chunichi Shimbun on March 15 (Thu), 2018.
