Chisa Shiraishi (Research Fellow, Graduate School of Science) and Akari Hashimoto (First-year doctoral student, Graduate School of Medicine) have received the 19th L'Oréal-UNESCO For Women In Science Japan Incentive Award.

The awardees' research themes are "Elucidation of Tissue-Specific Regulation of Translation" (Chisa Shiraishi) and "Elucidation of Neuronal Circuit Regulation by Microglia" (Akari Hashimoto). The award was established in 2005 by L'Oréal Japan in cooperation with the Japanese National Commission for UNESCO to encourage young female scientists living in Japan in their research.
