Nagoya University renames outdoor space 'Asahi Intecc Gateway'

On July 7, 2025, Nagoya University held a ceremony to reveal that the entrance courtyard of the IB Building will now be called the "Asahi Intecc Gateway." This change was made possible through a naming rights agreement with Asahi Intecc Co., Ltd. (hereafter, Asahi Intecc), a medical equipment manufacturer headquartered in Seto, Aichi Prefecture.

Nagoya University has been expanding its use of naming rights contracts to increase revenue and enhance its educational and research activities. This is Nagoya University's eighth naming rights partnership and the first to involve an outdoor space. The four-year agreement runs from June 25, 2025, through June 24, 2029.

Asahi Intecc is a research-driven manufacturing company specializing primarily in the development, production, and sale of medical devices for catheter-based treatments. The company has earned global recognition for the high quality and performance of its products. Most notably, their PCI (percutaneous coronary intervention) guidewire stands as a flagship product that has secured a top share of the global market.

The ceremony was attended by Asahi Intecc President & CEO Kenji Miyata and Executive Officer Shinjirō Ōtani. Attendees from Nagoya University included President Naoshi Sugiyama, Vice President Shōgo Kimura, and Dean of the Graduate School of Engineering Makoto Kobashi.

Moving forward, Nagoya University will continue to seek out new opportunities to use naming rights agreement to improve its educational and research environment, enhancing student life across the university.
