The Selection Committee of Nagoya University is pleased to announce that Designated Professor Masaru Hori, Designated Professor at the Center for Low-temperature Plasma Sciences (cLPS), has been named the third recipient of the prestigious Kenichiro Ishii Award.
An award ceremony was conducted on Saturday, December 14, 2024 followed by Professor Hori's commemorative lecture entitled "Creating the Future through Low-temperature Plasma Science: Opening New Frontiers at the Intersection of Electronics, Materials, and Biotechnology." The event drew a large audience despite taking place on a weekend, with attendees showing keen interest throughout the presentation.
The Kenichiro Ishii Award was established through an endowment from Mr. Kenichiro Ishii, an esteemed alumnus of the former Nagoya Higher Commercial School (currently the School of Economics, Nagoya University). Mr. Ishii, who served as the 8th President and CEO of Daido Steel Co., Ltd. and the second chairman of Kitan-kai (the alumni association of the School of Economics and Graduate School of Economics), made significant contributions to restructuring Japan's steel industry during the nation's period of rapid economic growth. The award recognizes faculty and staff members who have made exceptional contributions to the university's advancement.
