Request to take strict measures to prevent the spread of infection
As you are all aware, Aichi prefecture will be placed under the COVID-19 state of emergency effective May 12. At Nagoya University, we have been strongly enforcing measures to prevent the spread of infection and at this point, there will be no revisions to the current category/level of the "Guidelines for Activities at Nagoya University During the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic". However, because the university campus is a place where a large number of people gather, there is a risk of mass infection if we are not careful. Depending on the ongoing state of the spread of infection, it is possible that stricter restrictions may need to be enforced.
We wish to prevent such a situation, and as the President who is responsible for university administration, I strongly request that each of you avoid the 3 Cs, wear a mask, wash yours hands and gargle, as well as obey each item in the Guidelines for Activities throughout your day to day life, while also refraining from dining, partying or singing, etc. with individuals other than family members you are living with during this state of emergency period.
However, even if you are careful there is always the possibility to get infected. If you feel even slightly unwell, decide to take a PCR test, or anything similar, please inform the Health Administration Office as soon as possible.
If each and every member of the University acts in moderation, we can prevent the spread of infection on campus.
We ask for your cooperation so that we can return to normal life as early as possible.

Nagoya University President
