Emergency Student Support Handout for Continuing Studies Second Round

Nagoya University has been notified about the second round of Emergency Student Support Handout for Continuing Studies by the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT).
The program provides a cash handout to support students who face difficulty continuing their studies due to a significant decrease in their household income or income from part-time work, because of the spread of the novel coronavirus, so that they do not give up their studies.

 

Eligibility

Full-time undergraduate and graduate students (including international students) who face difficulty continuing their studies due to a significant decrease in their household income or income from part-time work because of the spread of the novel coronavirus.
*Those who applied for the first round (the deadline was June 8th) cannot apply for the second round.

 

Application requirements, application documents 

Application requirements and application documents can be checked from "NU Portal". Please be sure to use the application forms specified by the university.

Amount of handout

○ Japanese students (including foreign students)

Students from low-income households that are exempt from residence tax: JPY 200,000
Students other than the above: JPY 100,000

○ International students (those with "student visa"): JPY 100,000

 

Application period, application method

You need to complete two steps for application: (1) WEB registration ⇒ (2) Submit your documents

(1) WEB registration: From July 6 (Mon) to July 15 (Wed),2020 17:00
(2) Document submission: From July 8 (Wed) to July 17 (Fri), 2020 17:00 (The application materials must arrive no later than 17:00 [Japan time] on Friday 17 July 2020.)
※We do not accept any application after the deadline.
※Submission of only (1)or (2) is also invalid. Be sure to complete both procedures.

 

(1) WEB registration: No later than July 15 (Wed) 17:00

(2) Document submission:
Please submit the required documents by post or by bringing them in person to the application counter.

○Submit at the application counter: From July 8 (Wed) to July 17 (Fri), 2020 17:00 (The application materials must arrive no later than 17:00 [Japan time] on Friday 17 July 2020.)

From 10:00 to 11:30, from 13:30 to 16:00 on weekdays except July 17(Fri)

※Be sure to wear a mask when you bring the documents.

○Submit by post: From July 8 (Wed) to July 17 (Fri), 2020 17:00 (The application materials must arrive no later than 17:00 [Japan time] on Friday 17 July 2020.)

Please send it by "Letter Pack Light", etc. with a record of delivery.
The lowest cost for postal mailing with a record of delivery is "Letter Pack Light" (370 yen).

Please make sure that your application forms and documents are complete before mailing them. If they are incomplete, your application may not be reviewed.
※Please note that the University does not accept applications via LINE.

 

Result and payment of the first round (Deadline June 8th)

 

If your application was approved by Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO), the cash was transferred to your bank account on July 10th.

Please check your account information yourself. The University will NOT notify of the result.

If you were pending for the first round, we informed you through the NU Portal. Please check from your portal. (Those who are pending do not need to apply for the second round.)

Please check your account information yourself. The University will NOT notify of the result.

If you were not recommended to JASSO, we informed you through the NU Portal.

The amount of funding to provide support under this program is limited for each university. Therefore, some applicants may not be selected to receive support through the program.
