Emeritus Professor Isamu Akasaki Wins the 2021 Queen Elizabeth Prize for Engineering

Dr. Isamu Akasaki, University Professor and Emeritus Professor of Nagoya University, has received the 2021 Queen Elizabeth Prize for Engineering for his contribution to the creation and development of light-emitting diode (LED) lighting, according to an announcement by the Queen Elizabeth Prize for Engineering Foundation.

 

Since its establishment in 2013, this prize has been presented biennially to individuals and groups who have achieved internationally outstanding results in engineering. This year's award is the fifth time it has been awarded.
