Prof. Koshun Yamaoka Selected to Win the 2021 Prime Minister's Award for Disaster Management Contributions

Professor Koshun Yamaoka, Dean of the Graduate School of Environmental Studies at Nagoya University, has been selected to receive the 2021 Prime Minister's Award for Disaster Management Contributions, according to an announcement by the Japanese Cabinet Office on September 14, 2021. He will receive this award for his remarkable contributions to the improvement of disaster prevention measures.

 

The award is presented to groups and individuals whose performances are recognized as particularly remarkable in terms of the implementation of disaster management to rescue people and prevent the expansion of damage at the time of disaster, as well as the dissemination of disaster prevention ideas and the improvement of disaster management measures during ordinary times, based on the establishment of the National Disaster Prevention Day and the National Disaster Reduction Week (approved by the Cabinet on May 11, 1982).
