The Center for Theoretical Studies consists of three divisions: the Division of Theoretical Particle Physics explores physics beyond the standard model, and attempts to explicate the gauge dynamics of that model; the Division of Cosmology and Theoretical Astrophysics covers areas such as dark matter and dark energy, integrating research in particle physics and cosmology; the Division of String Theory and Mathematics investigates mathematical structures dealing primarily with gauge and string theories. In addition to this, the Computational Theoretical Physics Laboratory carries out numerical simulation utilizing high-performance computers to elucidate the evolution of the universe and gauge field theory. These divisions and laboratory, working closely with the Center for Experimental Studies, will pioneer new fundamental theoretical physics that surpass the standard model.
