Professor Kazuyuki Tatsumi of the Research Center for Material Science Wins Eugen and Ilse Seibold Prize

Professor Kazuyuki Tatsumi of the Research Center for Material Science has won the Eugen and Ilse Seibold Prize from the German Research Foundation (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft). The Eugen and Ilse Seibold Prize is given to Japanese and German researchers who have contributed in promotion of the sciences and advancing understanding between the two countries.

Professor Tatsumi and Professor Gerhard Erker of the University of Münster in Germany won the prize in recognition of their achievements in promoting education and research between Germany and Japan. They won the prize for their activities with the Japanese-German joint graduate school program ‘Complex Functional Systems in Chemistry: Design, Development and Applications’, funded jointly by the German Research Foundation and the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science.

The award was presented to Professor Tatsumi and Professor Erker on May 20th, 2011 at the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities.
