Nagoya University held its AY2025 Graduation Ceremony on March 25, 2026, at Toyoda Auditorium. The ceremony celebrated a total of 4,122 graduates, with diplomas awarded to 2,149 bachelor’s degree recipients and 1,973 master’s, professional, and doctoral degree recipients.
In his address to the graduating class, President Sugiyama reflected on the profound changes that generative AI has brought to society in recent years, suggesting that thinking carefully about what AI can and cannot do may offer a valuable compass for navigating the world ahead. He closed with an encouragement to embrace lifelong learning, expressing his hope that graduates would continue to find joy in acquiring new knowledge throughout their lives.
This was followed by congratulatory speeches from guest speakers Masaharu Shibata, Special Advisor at NGK Insulators, Ltd. and President of the Nagoya University Alumni Association, and Toshio Nakamura, President of the National Association of Small and Medium Enterprise Promotion Organizations and Vice President of the Nagoya University Alumni Association.
The ceremony was also streamed live online, allowing those unable to attend in person to join in the celebrations. The recordings remain available on YouTube.
