On October 8, 2025, Nagoya University welcomed a high-level delegation from Chiang Mai University (CMU), led by President Pongruk Sribanditmongkol and Vice Presidents Charin Techapun, Winita Punyodom, and Tanyanuparb Anantana. The courtesy visit provided an opportunity for both institutions to discuss strengthening bilateral relations and expanding educational and research collaboration.

Nagoya University President Naoshi Sugiyama and Vice President Norimi Mizutani hosted the delegation, joined by representatives from the Graduate Schools of Engineering, Bioagricultural Sciences, International Development, and Environmental Studies. The meeting focused on exploring collaborative opportunities across several fields, including veterinary medicine, biosciences, and interdisciplinary research integrating life sciences and environmental sustainability.

The two universities already maintain active partnerships through faculty-level agreements. Notably, an agreement with CMU’s Faculty of Veterinary Medicine was established through the Asian Satellite Campuses Institute (ASCI) in 2022, alongside an earlier 2015 agreement between the Graduate School of International Development and CMU’s Faculty of Economics.

Both institutions expressed commitment to deepening their partnership through enhanced researcher and student exchanges, joint research initiatives, and academic programs.
