The National Institute for Materials Science (President: Kazuhito Hashimoto) and Nagoya University (President: Seiichi Matsuo) concluded an agreement on a Joint Graduate School Program on May 18, 2016.

The two institutions have been tied together by a comprehensive partnership agreement since October last year. Also, they have both been selected by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology to engage in Research and Development focusing on Gallium Nitride (GaN) as part of their "Project for the Research and Development of Semiconductors to Contribute to the Realization of an Energy Efficient Society," and are deepening their collaborations in specific areas of research.

Henceforth, the two institutions will strive to strengthen their collaborations and expand their educational and research capabilities, and utilize the collective strength of their research and development abilities and human resources to accomplish the objective of playing significant roles in our country’s academic and educational prosperity and the advancement of material science.
