A delegation from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, India, visited Nagoya University on August 3, 2026, to explore academic partnership and collaboration opportunities. IIT Bombay, which established a Japan collaboration cell in August 2025, is a leading institution for science and engineering research in India.

The visiting delegation included Professor Neeraj Kumbhakarna, dean of infrastructure, planning, and support; Professor Sudarshan Kumar, dean of international relations; and Professor Nagendra Kumar, from the Department of Aerospace Engineering, along with Ipsita Das, senior project manager, and Chandrika Naik, student coordinator, both from IIT Bombay’s Office of International Relations. They were received by Professor Koji Yamanaka, vice president of research and information strategy, and Associate Professor Masaru Takeuchi, from the Graduate School of Engineering, as well as Associate Professors Akiko Ito and Claudia Ishikawa and Academic Specialist Yoko Shiraki, from the Global Multi-Campus Institute.

The representatives discussed outlooks for reinforcing the two institutions’ strengths through research collaboration and academic exchange programs. Following this, the IIT Bombay team toured Takeuchi’s robotics lab at Nagoya University’s Department of Micro-Nano Mechanical Science and Engineering, where they witnessed live demonstrations of robots capable of helping with medical surgery and assistive mobility for the elderly.
