Nagoya University Professors, Gohta Goshima and Takeshi Yanai, Selected to Win AY2018 JSPS Prize

Professor Gohta Goshima of the Graduate School of Science and Professor Takeshi Yanai of the Institute of Transformative Bio-Molecules, both of Nagoya University, were selected to win the 15th (AY2018) Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) Prize on December 27 (Thu), 2018.

This prize aims to discover and recognize, at an early stage, young researchers with rich creativity and superlative research abilities, thus helping to enhance their passion for research and supporting their progress. In doing so, it ultimately aims to propel Japan’s standards of academic research to a world-leading level.

The prize-winning research projects were Professor Goshima’s "New Mechanisms of Cytoskeleton Formation" and Professor Yanai’s "Development of Computational Quantum Chemistry Method Based on Density Matrix Renormalization Group Theory and Its Application to Multi-reference Electronic Systems."

The award ceremony will be held at the Japan Academy on February 7 (Thu), 2019.
