Nagoya University holds entrance ceremony for Fall 2025

On October 1, 2025, Nagoya University held its entrance ceremony for the 2025 academic year at Toyoda Auditorium. The ceremony welcomed 291 new students, including both undergraduate and graduate students from 41 countries.

The ceremony began with the entrance of President Naoshi Sugiyama and university leadership, accompanied by a performance by the Nagoya University Symphony Orchestra. A student from the Graduate School of Economics took the oath on behalf of all incoming students.

President Sugiyama delivered an address to the incoming class, offering words of encouragement as they begin their academic journeys. The ceremony also featured a welcoming speech from Associate Professor Christian Otchia from the Graduate School of International Development, who earned his doctorate from Nagoya University in 2015. Speaking as a representative of the university’s faculty and alumni, he shared, “Your journey will not always be easy, but it will be worthwhile.”
