Nagoya University Professor Hitoshi Sakakibara awarded Medal of Honor with Purple Ribbon for his contribution to plant science

On November 3, 2023, Professor Hitoshi Sakakibara from Nagoya University Graduate School of Bioagricultural Sciences was awarded the Medal of Honor with Purple Ribbon by the Emperor of Japan. Recipients are people who have contributed to advances in the academy and the arts. Professor Sakakibara was recognized for his contributions to plant science.

He studies how plants optimize their growth and development in response to their environment, focusing on molecular mechanisms. He has been also recognized as a Clarivate Highly Cited Researcher every year since 2014.
