Two Nagoya University Students to Receive FY2018 JSPS Ikushi Prize

Two Nagoya University students, Yusuke Kimata at the Graduate School of Science and Hanako Hagio at the Graduate School of Bioagricultural Sciences, have been selected to receive the Ninth (FY2018) Japan Society for the Promotion of Sciences (JSPS) Ikushi Prize. The prize was established in FY2010 to recognize and support outstanding doctoral students who show promise in contributing to future scientific advancement in Japan.

Out of 155 nominees, 18 students have been selected to receive the Ninth JSPS Ikushi Prize. The award ceremony will be held on March 8 (Fri), 2019.

Yusuke Kimata

  • Awardee: Yusuke Kimata (Graduate School of Science)
  • Research Topic: Analysis of the plant apical-basal axis formation by the asymmetric division of the zygote

Hanako Hagio

  • Awardee: Hanako Hagio (Graduate School of Bioagricultural Sciences)
  • Research Topic: Studies on the central visual system of fish – How do fish look at the world? –
