Mr. Kosuke Takeuchi and Mr. Motohiro Kubo, fourth-grade undergraduate students belonging to Nagoya University’s School of Engineering (Department of Civil Engineering and Architecture), were selected to win the grand prize for their design entitled Machidoma no aru kurashi in the 4th Student House Design Contest hosted by the Mainichi Newspapers on October 2, 2018.

Students of vocational schools, junior colleges, and universities (schools/graduate schools) are eligible to enter the competition. Under the theme of a wooden house that stands for 100 years, participants designed a house with a total floor area of 20 tsubo (approximately 66m2) or larger. Entries included a description of the design’s concept, a plan for each floor, an exterior perspective, and photos of the construction model. Mr. Takeuchi and Mr. Kubo were selected to win the grand prize from a total of 207 entries.
