Welcome to our new students for Fall 2024

Everyone at Nagoya University would like to extend a warm welcome to our 287 new undergraduate and graduate students, including 231 international students, who attended the entrance ceremony on October 1st.

Seated in the Toyoda Auditorium, the new students heard speeches from Nagoya University President Naoshi Sugiyama and Institute of Transformative Bio-Molecules chemist Dr Akiko Yagi. President Sugiyama spoke of the importance of learning through trial and error, and using one’s failures to push forward and do better. He cited Nagoya University Professor and Nobel laureate Hiroshi Amano, who tried over 1,500 times to synthesize the gallium nitride crystals upon which he built his research career.

If you missed the ceremony, it is available to watch in its entirety online. Please click here.

With many developments planned for Nagoya University in the coming years, it’s an exciting time to become a student at one of our 9 undergraduate and 16 postgraduate schools. Check out the English admissions information here to see if we have a course that’s right for you.
