Nagoya University announces recipients of 7th Okamoto Young Researcher Award

Nagoya University has selected the following two individuals as recipients of the 7th Okamoto Young Researcher Award.

The award was established in 2019 through a donation from Distinguished Professor Yoshio Okamoto to commemorate his winning of the Japan Prize. The Nagoya University award recognizes young researchers who have produced exceptional doctoral dissertations at the university in the fields of natural sciences and technology, and who demonstrate high potential for future success. The award also aims to promote the high standards of education and research at Nagoya University both within and outside the institution. An award ceremony will be held at a later date.

Shintarō Minagawa

  • Affiliation: Doctoral Program in Mathematical Informatics, Graduate School of Informatics, Nagoya University (Completed March 2025)

  • Current position: Postdoctoral Researcher, Computer Science and Systems Laboratory, Aix-Marseille University

  • Research theme: Incompatibility in measurement processes and thermodynamics

Takeshi Hara

  • Affiliation: Doctoral Program in Applied Physics, Graduate School of Engineering, Nagoya University (Completed March 2025)

  • Current position: Assistant Professor, Graduate School of Science, Tohoku University

  • Research theme: Research on molecular crystals through precise valence electron density analysis using synchrotron X-ray diffraction
