Deep Condolences for the Passing of University Professor Koji Nakanishi

We express our deepest condolences upon hearing the sad news that Dr. Koji Nakanishi (University Professor of Nagoya University) has passed away.

While at Nagoya University, Dr. Nakanishi developed his studies on the structural determination of natural organic compounds under then-Professor Yoshimasa Hirata of the School of Science. Dr. Nakanishi, considered to be one of internationally recognized authorities in the research field of "how to remove fragile natural products from living organisms to determine the structure of natural molecules," had long been challenging himself to this difficult issue in natural products chemistry. His achievements have brought about significant innovations in a wide range of fields, such as the development of pharmaceutical and agrochemical products.

Thanks to Dr. Nakanishi, many students and researchers in Nagoya University have inherited his sincere attitude towards research.

We express our heartfelt gratitude for his services and contributions to Nagoya University, and pray that his soul may rest in peace.
