Nagoya University Student Team Wins MEXT Minister’s Award at National Campus Venture Competition

A team of students from Nagoya University has received the prestigious Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) Award (Technology Award) at the 21st Campus Venture Grand Prix (CVG) National Competition. The event, organized by the Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun, took place on Tuesday, February 25, at the Osaka Industrial Creation Hall with additional online participation.

The winning project, led by Kensuke SUMIDA from the Graduate School of Engineering, focused on the “Development of a Measurement Device for Orthostatic Dysregulation Symptoms.” Their innovative work aims to communicate the frustration experienced by those who struggle with this condition, which makes it difficult for patients to get out of bed due to circulation problems.

The Campus Venture Grand Prix is Japan’s premier business plan competition for university students, graduate students, and vocational school students. The competition encourages innovative thinking by soliciting various business plans for new products and services. By recognizing excellence in entrepreneurship, CVG aims to foster business acumen and develop young leaders who will shape Japan’s future.

The team first demonstrated their excellence by winning the Grand Prize at the regional “22nd CVG Chubu” competition, which qualified them to advance to the national finals.

Award Recipients:

  • Kensuke SUMIDA: Graduate School of Engineering, 2nd year Doctoral Program

  • Kosuke KOMURO: Graduate School of Engineering, 2nd year Doctoral Program

  • Daiki TANAKA: School of Informatics, 4th year Undergraduate

  • Sawako FURUKAWA: Graduate School of Medicine, 3rd year Medical Doctoral Program
