Prof. Yoji Yamada and Prof. Hiroshi Amano Receive the 2015 Industry-Academia-Government Collaboration Contribution Awards

Graduate School of Engineering professors Yoji Yamada and Hiroshi Amano received the 13th Industry-Academia-Government Collaboration Contribution Awards in 2015.

The awards aim to recognize successful achievements in outstanding results yielded through industry-academia-government partnerships among businesses, universities, and public research institutions, as well as significant contributions to promoting the partnership by, for instance, pursuing leading initiatives. Awardees are determined by the relevant ministries or organizations after evaluations by the selection committee of the persons nominated by the relevant ministries.

In this year’s awards, Professor Yamada was presented the Prime Minister’s Award for "the development and standardization of safety verification technologies for life support robots," and Professor Amano was presented the Science Council of Japan President’s Award for "the development of short wavelength ultraviolet light-emitting diodes (LEDs)."

The award ceremony was held at the Tokyo International Exhibition Center, known as Tokyo Big Sight, on August 28, 2015.
