Kaito Kimura, a postdoctoral fellow in the Graduate School of Mathematics, was awarded the 16th Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) Ikushi Prize. The prize was established in 2010 to recognize and cultivate outstanding doctoral researchers who are expected to contribute to the future of academic research in Japan, with the aim of supporting their studies and boosting their research motivation. Kimura, who received his doctorate from Nagoya University in 2025, was awarded the prize for his research titled “Homological commutative algebra based on the analysis of Ext modules.”
This year, the committee selected 19 recipients from 187 nominations put forward by Japanese universities and academic organizations.
