On February 2, 2026, Nagoya University welcomed Ambassador Md. Daud Ali of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh to Japan, for a courtesy visit. The delegation also included Political Counsellor Muhammad Shafiul Azam. The visit provided an opportunity to discuss the relationship between Bangladesh and the Nagoya University and explore possibilities for future collaboration.

Nagoya University President Naoshi Sugiyama and Vice President Norimi Mizutani hosted the Ambassador at Toyoda Auditorium on the Higashiyama Campus. The two sides used the occasion to review the current state of academic exchanges and consider ways to develop them further.

Nagoya University currently has department-level agreements with three Bangladeshi institutions: Bangladesh Agricultural University (since 2000), the Department of Physics at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (since 2008), and the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Dhaka (since 2010). As of January 2026, 15 students from Bangladesh are enrolled at Nagoya University across undergraduate and graduate programs. During the 2020–2024 period, exchanges included the acceptance of five researchers and 15 faculty and staff visits to Bangladesh.
