Cutting-Edge Supercomputer ‘Furo’ Starts Operation in Nagoya University

On July 1, 2020, Nagoya University Information Technology Center began to operate a supercomputer named Furo, which was developed based on Fugaku — a supercomputer with world-class performance that will be installed at the RIKEN Center for Computational Science.

Using Furo, Nagoya University aims to vigorously advance research on a variety of topics, including the analysis of typhoon mechanisms, medical image diagnosis and treatment support, gene analysis, and the application of AI to self-driving systems. As part of its social contribution activities, the University will also continue to provide computational resources to assist private companies’ research projects.
