Nagoya University Professors, Ryotaro Matsuda and Makoto Yamashita, Selected to Win AY2019 JSPS Prize

Professors of the Graduate School of Engineering of Nagoya University, Ryotaro Matsuda and Makoto Yamashita, were selected to win the 16th (AY2019) Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) Prize as promising leaders in academic research in Japan on December 24, 2019.

This prize aims to discover and recognize, at an early stage, young researchers with rich creativity and superlative research abilities, thus helping to enhance their passion for research and supporting their progress. In doing so, it ultimately aims to propel Japan’s standards of academic research to a world-leading level.

The prize winning research projects were Professor Matsuda’s "Study on Molecular Recognition and Trapping Functions of Nanoporous Metal Complexes" and Professor Yamashita’s "Creation of Highly Reactive Boron Compounds and Elucidation of Their Characteristic Reactivity."

The award ceremony will be held at the Japan Academy on February 18, 2020.
