Associate Professor Yoshihiko Okamoto of the Graduate School of Engineering, Nagoya University, has won the 20th Sir Martin Wood Prize of the Millennium Science Forum. At the award ceremony held in Tokyo on Friday, November 9th, Professor Okamoto was awarded the prize by a representative of the British Embassy in Japan before delivering a commemorative lecture.
The Sir Martin Wood Prize is awarded annually to commend a scientist from a Japanese university or research institute who is 40 years of age or younger and who has made remarkable discoveries in condensed matter science (which includes fields like solid-state physics, organic/inorganic solid-state chemistry, material science, and surface physics). This year’s prize recognizes Associate Professor Okamoto’s highly regarded achievements in his research on "the Creation of Functional Electronic Phases."
