Visiting researcher programs

Nagoya University offers a variety of programs to support visiting researchers across different disciplines. These programs provide opportunities for scholars to engage in collaborative research, access university resources, and participate in academic exchanges.

Institute for Advanced Research (IAR) PI Visiting Fellowship

Established in 2002, the Institute for Advanced Research aims to promote high-caliber academic research. The PI Visiting Fellowship invites distinguished researchers to undertake specific projects and deliver lectures during their stay.

SCOSTEP Visiting Scholar (SVS) Program at the Institute for Space-Earth Environmental Research (ISEE)

This program offers training for young scientists and graduate students from developing countries in solar-terrestrial physics. Participants engage in research at ISEE for periods ranging from one to three months. SCOSTEP provides airfare, while the host institution covers living expenses. Applicants are encouraged to contact potential host researchers at ISEE with their proposals.

Gender Research Library (GRL) Visiting Program

The GRL invites researchers in gender studies for visits ranging from one week to twelve months. Visiting scholars conduct independent research, interact with university scholars, and are provided with travel expenses, a private office, and logistical support. They are expected to deliver a research seminar and contribute a report to GRL Studies.

Center for Asian Legal Exchange (CALE) Foreign Visiting Research Fellow Program

CALE focuses on assisting Asian countries in developing legal systems. The Foreign Visiting Research Fellow Program invites scholars to engage in research and cultural exchange at Nagoya University. Fellows are expected to collaborate with faculty and contribute to CALE’s activities. Applicants should hold a doctoral degree or equivalent and demonstrate significant academic achievements.
