The Office for Gender Equality was established on January 21, 2003 in order to actively work to achieve gender equality through internal processes at Nagoya University. It was the first national university in Japan to take this step. Specifically, the Office’s duties include involvement in positive action, correcting gender discrimination and disparities, complaint processing system for monitoring purposes, the Gender Equality Social Promotion / Industry-Academia-Government Collaboration Forum, the Basic Humanities-Sciences Gender Research Project, the Policy Research Project, and other avenues to promote gender equality at Nagoya University.
