Statement regarding fire at Higashiyama Campus (January 27, 2026)

A fire broke out at approximately 12:45 p.m. on Tuesday, January 27, in an experimental laboratory on the second floor of Engineering Building No. 3 at the Higashiyama Campus. The fire was confirmed extinguished at 1:46 p.m. Fortunately, there were no injuries resulting from this incident.

We extend our sincere apologies to residents in the surrounding area and all concerned parties for the considerable inconvenience and concern this has caused.

Nagoya University is committed to implementing thorough measures to prevent recurrence and strengthen safety management protocols based on the results of our investigation into the cause of this incident.
