Nagoya University applied for the second round of the International Research Excellence University initiative but was not approved for certification. While this is a very disappointing result, we understand that the system strengthening plan we submitted received a certain level of recognition from the expert council. What we need now is not to stand still, but to steadily implement our system strengthening plan, starting where we can, toward becoming a world-class research university. We will continue to move forward with reforms while receiving support from stakeholders both within and outside the university.
