On October 6, 2025, Nagoya University presented this year’s Leading Women Researchers Award during a ceremony at the Gender Research Library on the Higashiyama Campus.
Since 2017, this award has been bestowed annually on especially outstanding women researchers who are selected based on recommendations to the Gender Equality Promotion Committee. The award is presented to women researchers with outstanding research abilities and achievements who are also promising future candidates for university executive and managerial positions. In addition to fostering top women leaders, the award aims to raise awareness of female excellence at the departmental level through the recommendation process itself.
This academic year, four individuals received the award: Professor Yuka Nakazawa (Graduate School of Medicine), Professor Tomoko Yoshida (Graduate School of Engineering), Associate Professor Fusa Miyake (Institute for Space-Earth Environmental Research), and Associate Professor Yukiko Kawamoto (Center for Digital Humanities and Social Sciences/Graduate School of Humanities). The award ceremony was attended by Vice President Masako Nagata, Professor Mariko Yamasaki (Director of the Center for Gender Diversity), and faculty who teach at the Center for Gender Diversity. The awards were presented by President Naoshi Sugiyama.

A reception was held after the ceremony, at which previous recipients of the award were also present. The event served as a valuable opportunity for participants, including President Sugiyama, to exchange opinions and learn about each other’s experiences.
