Former Associate Prof. Masaki Kashiwara Selected to Receive Chern Medal Award

Masaki Kashiwara, former associate professor of the School of Science at Nagoya University, was selected to receive the third Chern Medal Award on August 1 (Wed), 2018. This award is presented by the International Mathematical Union (IMU) to praise an individual who has made remarkable achievements in the field of mathematics. Dr. Kashiwara is the first Japanese person to receive this award since its establishment in 2010.

Dr. Kashiwara received this award for his achievements in formulating a new theory on algebraic analysis and for his continued contributions to education in mathematics over the years.
