  • If the financial institution is closed on the direct debit date, the payment will be made on the next business day.
  • Tuition fees will be paid by direct debit.
  • Bank Account Online Registration for Tuition Fee is required.
  • If you take a leave of absence or withdraw from the University, the payment Deadline will be different from the above.
  • Please make a deposit to the registered account by the day before the Direct Debit date.

Non-regular students

Non-regular students (research students, auditing students, credit-earning students, etc.)

  • Payment must be made by cash or by invoice.
  • Payment deadline is the initial month of the planned enrollment period or the month enrollment is approved.
  • Account registration is not required.

Disenrolment due to non-payment of tuition

The President may, when a student falls under any of the following items, deregister the student, through discussion by the faculty council of the relevant school: if the student neglects their duty to pay tuition, and, after receiving a demand for payment, still fails to make payment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: How can I register an account to pay tuition fees?
A1: Please check the bank account online registration page.

Q2: Can I receive a document stating the amount of tuition and payment deadline?
A2: There is no written notification of tuition fees. The university will notify students using the NU Portal (Educational Affairs System). Notifications are sent in May for the spring semester and November for the fall semester.

Q3: Can I receive a notification if my tuition fee has been successfully direct debited?
A3: Please confirm by yourself by checking your bankbook etc.

Q4: I have applied for tuition fee exemption, how should I pay?
A4: If you are applying for tuition fee exemption, we will direct debit after the result of tuition fee exemption application.

Note: If you pay the tuition fee before the results of your tuition exemption application, the tuition fee cannot be refunded.

Q5: I received a demand letter in the mail, what should I do?
A5: Please pay promptly. If you do not pay even after receiving a reminder, you will be deregistered from the university after a discussion by the Faculty Council.

Q6: Tuition fees were not direct debited from my registered account on the direct debit date. What should I do?
A6: If you are applying for tuition fee exemption, your tuition will not be direct debited. If you are not applying for tuition fee exemption, and have sufficient balance in your registered account, and have not been direct debited, your registered account may be different from what you remember. Please contact us by email at kei-syu[at]t.mail.nagoya-u.ac.jp.

Q7: If I take a leave of absence, do I need to pay tuition fee?
A7: If you wish to take a leave of absence, please submit the documents at the office of your faculty/graduate school. Depending on when you submit your leave of absence documentation, you may be required to pay tuition fees. If tuition fees are not paid, your request for leave of absence will not be accepted.

Q8: I was unable to pay the tuition fee by the payment deadline. Is there any penalty?
A8: Please pay promptly. If you do not pay even after receiving a reminder, you will be deregistered from the university after a discussion by the Faculty Council.

Q9: I forgot to deposit money into my account before the direct debit date. What should I do?
A9: We will direct debit again next month. Please deposit the money into your registered account as soon as possible.

Q10: Where is the Funding Control Division located?
A10: The Funding Control Division is located in Higashiyama Campus Map(B4④-2F).

Q11: What are your hours of operation? Are you open on weekends and holidays?
A11: We are available on weekdays from 9:00-12:00 and 13:00-17:00. The counter may be closed during the year-end and New Year holidays and summer holidays, so please email us before coming.
