Asian Satellite Campuses Institute
Asian Satellite Campuses Institute (ASCI) operates the Transnational Doctoral Programs for Leading Professionals in Asian Countries. These are special research-based doctoral programs which primarily target professionals in government positions, and academic institutions from select Asian countries who have already completed a master’s degree and wish to earn a doctoral degree. This is a doctoral program which provides an opportunity for participants to deepen their knowledge and experience and work towards a doctoral degree through Nagoya University without having to take time out from their career.
Joint Degree Programs
Joint degrees, administered by individual schools in cooperation with partner universities, give students the opportunity to obtain a PhD under the supervision of professors from Nagoya University and a second university overseas. Graduates will receive a degree certificate issued equally by the two universities. The Joint Degree Program is a great opportunity for motivated candidates to take advantage of the perspectives of two supervisors from different backgrounds to expand their horizons and push their limits as academics.

International Graduate Government Scholarship Students (MEXT)
The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) established its scholarship program in 1954 and has been providing support to international students studying in Japan ever since.
To apply for a MEXT scholarship to be used for admission to a Japanese university, you will need to obtain a letter of recommendation from your embassy or a university. You cannot apply for both at the same time.
You will typically enter Japan as a research student and advance into a higher degree program after conducting some initial research.
The university will not collect an admissions application fee or tuition from scholarship students. If you meet certain conditions, the government will pay for your round-trip airfare.
