From March 13 to 16, Nagoya University hosted a Japan-India joint workshop in cooperation with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). There were 40 participants from India and 11 from Japan, with participants in Japan attending from Nagoya University and other institutions.
The India PGPEX program workshop, held over four days during a two-week visit to Japan, forms part of a master’s program jointly run by the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta, the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, and the Indian Institute of Technology Madras. Participants were divided into 10 groups, each group including participants from both Japan and India. The groups walked around Nagoya, developing ideas for products and business models based on the theme “green mobility for diverse abilities.”
On March 16, each group gave a three-minute presentation on their ideas for products and services aimed at solving social issues in both Japan and India. The groups then answered questions from eight panelists.
The groups came up with a wide variety of business ideas, and the panelists posed a range of questions about paths to social implementation, advantages compared with existing products, and the originality of the products from a technological perspective. Through the presentation session, participants gained a deeper understanding of the differences between business environments in Japan and India, as well as potential opportunities for mutual market entry.
