
On October 17, 2025, Nagoya University hosted the Overseas Graduates Welcome Reception in collaboration with the Nagoya University Alumni Association. The event, held in the lead-up to Homecoming 2025, celebrated the achievements of the university’s global alumni community and featured the presentation of the Nagoya University Award for Contributions to International Exchange, sponsored by the Alumni Association.
This year, three outstanding alumni were recognized for their contributions:
- Andin Hadiyanto
- President Commissioner, PT Sarana Multi Infrastruktur (PT SMI), Indonesia
- Lyu Leining
- Associate Professor and Chair of Japanese Department, School of Foreign Studies, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, China
- Hap Phalthy
- Vice Rector, Royal University of Law and Economics, Cambodia
The evening began with opening remarks from Nagoya University President Naoshi Sugiyama, who welcomed the alumni and guests. Masaharu Shibata, President of the Nagoya University Alumni Association, followed with a toast, expressing gratitude for the alumni’s ongoing connection to their alma mater.


Guests enjoyed a selection of food and drinks, fostering lively conversation and reconnections among alumni from around the world. Each award recipient delivered remarks, reflecting on their time at Nagoya University and the impact it had on their careers and lives. A highlight of the evening was a special slideshow featuring photographs from the recipients’ student days, sparking laughter throughout the room.





The event concluded with closing remarks by the Tokai National Higher Education and Research System (THERS) Chancellor Seiichi Matsuo, underscoring the university’s commitment to maintaining a vibrant, global alumni network.
