NU Affiliated Lower Secondary School Student Achieves 11 Consecutive Wins in ‘Shogi’ (Japanese Chess)

Mr. Sota Fujii, a third-year student of Nagoya University Lower Secondary School, became the youngest professional Shogi (strategic board game also known as Japanese chess) player at 14 years and two months old in October 2016. He has achieved 11 consecutive wins without losing since his professional debut in December of the same year.

Previously, the record for most consecutive wins was 10 before Mr. Fujii’s achievement, but now he has set a new record by winning his match on April 4, 2017.
