Emeritus Professor Takao Kondo to Be Honored as Person of Cultural Merit

Nagoya University Emeritus Professor Takao Kondo has been selected as a 2019 Person of Cultural Merit, according to an announcement by the Japanese government on October 29, 2019.

The Persons of Cultural Merit is one of the nation’s highest honors, second only to the Order of Culture, and is awarded to those who have made a significant contribution to the development and enrichment of culture in Japan. Dr. Kondo has been engaged in the field of chronobiology and demonstrated that the properties of biological clocks are based on the functions of proteins.

The award ceremony will be held in Tokyo on November 5, 2019.
