Designated Prof. Tatsumi of RCMS Elected as Ordinary Member of ICSU Executive Board

Designated Professor Kazuyuki Tatsumi of the Research Center for Materials Science, Nagoya University, has been elected as Ordinary Member of the Executive Board of the International Council for Science (ICSU). ICSU is a non-governmental, non-profit organization with a global membership of scientific bodies aiming to promote international cooperation in science and technology, provide advice on relevant issues, and contribute to the well-being of humanity. His selection was determined at an election held during ICSU's 31st General Assembly in Auckland, New Zealand, to select Officers and Ordinary Members of its Executive Board.

 

Professor Tatsumi is currently Vice Chair of Section III (Physical Sciences and Engineering) and Vice Chair of the Committee for International Affairs in the Science Council of Japan (SCJ). He served as President of the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC: one of the Scientific Union Members) for two years from 2012. With SCJ's endorsement, Professor Tatsumi ran for and won the position during the latest election.
